Three years ago ASHA created the School Finance Committee. The committee was given a two-part charge:
To accomplish these goals, the committee has created a Web site at www.asha.org/members/slp/schools/advocacy-change.htm (ASHA, 2006a) to provide information and advocacy tips for ASHA members. The committee also has developed a training module to help members advocate for and actively pursue funds from local sources for programs and services to benefit students. The Web site is continuously updated and contains a wealth of information on school funding and tips on how to apply for and receive funds from private/nongovernmental sources.
