After 6 years as the Editor of Division 16’s Perspectives, I am greatly honored to take on the role of Division 16’s Coordinator as of January 2006. I am following in the formidable path of the Division’s first coordinator, DeAnne Wellman Owre, who was an extraordinary leader for all of her 6-year term. She guided Division 16 from an organization of fewer than a dozen pioneers— she was a founding member—to a group with 3,348 affiliates, as of the last official count in October 2005. We wish her well in her new role as ASHA’s Vice President for Governmental and Social Policies.
