Welcome to the June 2010 issue of Perspectives, the publication of Division 16, School-Based Issues.
SallyAnn Giess has again prepared an outstanding issue for your professional growth: Academic preparation for the new SLP; What does a school-based SLP need in terms of education? Our issue peer reviewers, Sheryl Amaral and Judy Rudebusch, did an outstanding job! Thank you for your dedicated service to the division.
Your Division 16 Steering Committee has been very active. Ellen Estomin, Associate Coordinator, responded on behalf of the Division on the controversial ASHA Leader article, “Role Ambiguity and Speech-Language Pathology” (The ASHA Leader, 2009). Her response can be found in The ASHA Leader, April 5, 2010. Ruth Callahan represented us at the Health Care Conference in Seattle from April 22-25. Special Projects chair Laura Young-Campbell hosted a Web forum on school finance on April 6, it can be viewed at https://connect.asha.org/Web/Events/live/04-06-2010-Economic-Downturn. Thank you to Judy Rudebusch and Patti Bellini, Division 16 affiliates, for sharing your expertise on this subject. This Web forum is archived for your review at any time. Lisa Keane continues her duties as CE chair and is available to affiliates who have questions or concerns about Perspectives CE activities.
